This garden installation aims to deepen our natural connection with the four seasons, the four directions and the four elements of earthly matter.
Rooted in ancient pre-Celtic, pre-Christian traditions, our work aims to honour the Sacred Solstices, Equinoxes and Gaelic seasonal ('cross quarter') festivals (Samhain, Imbolc, Bealtaine, Lughnassah). Each of these moments in the year is represented by a contemplative space within our wheel of time, sitting at it's own compass point, held by it's own elemental force and brought alive with associated native herbs, flowers and trees.
Our 'wheel' will take the shape of an eight petalled flower, woven in the tradition of our ancestors from fresh hazel and willow rods, held together at the centre by the invisible yet omnipresent Spirit.
The Earth Spirit Collective are a group of creative artists who combine organic gardening, permaculture design, natural building, green crafts, music and theatre. The spaces we create inspire contemplation and deep understanding, facilitating reconnection with the Earth and the Spirit.
