Music : Art 2011 : Inside Outside
Aoife has been exploring her surroundings through photography for over ten years. She has a unique ability to see beauty in the ordinary and the overlooked, telling stories of people and place through her images, often capturing them in unusual and quirky ways. She has a strong passion for early photographic techniques and she often uses pinhole cameras in her work.
Aoife has been a member of the Body & Soul team for the last number of years and has used her creative talent to transform tents into saloon bars and ambient lounges and raspberry cages into the cabaret-esque 'Bird Cage Bar' of last years festival.
This year she is combining her set dressing talent and photographic interest to bring us an installation called 'Inside Outside'. The idea is to transform a garden shed into a camera obscura (dark box) where the outside world is reflected on the inside of the shed, to create a quiet place where festival goers can experience light and image-making in its simplest form.
Outside the shed will be transformed into an oldy/worldy parlour that looks onto a beautiful tree decorated with hundreds of used bulbs and lots of mirrors that will reflect, shine and shimmer in its magical surrounds.
